First I searched the Portland City Directories from before the turn of the century.
I found several listings that were a match or possibilities.
(NOTE: Published spelling preserved)
1887 Portland City Directory - page 362
Oelschlager, Jacob, teamster, Wm W Newhouse, bds n w cor Hooker and Meade.
(boarder – northwest corner Hooker and Meade)
Even though the spelling is different I believe this is the immigrant Jacob Ohlegschlager.
1890 Portland City Directory – page 400
Ohleschlager, John, teamster Moore & Star, res. 116 Hood(res = residence)
1893 Portland City Directory – page 692
Ohlegschlager, John, lab, res 186 Jefferson lab = Laborer)
note: Jacob and Eliz Ohlegschlager’s daughter Appolonia married Jacob Wetle in 1878. They removed to The Dalles about 1883 so these Wetles are possibly close relatives
1893 Portland City Directory – page 916
Wetle, Jacob, lab, Bissinger & Co, res 1332 Macadam
1897 Portland City Directory – page 637
Wetle, Jacob, res near Carson Heights
Note: other Wetles – James, John G, Mary (widow of Clement), and Matthew are also listed.
These are the listings I was able to find in the directories that were available at GFO.
